Many brides dream of getting married on the beach, with a light breeze in their hair and sunshine all around. A beach wedding can be a fun, light hearted affair, full of natural beauty and a ready-made venue. Whether you’re planning your wedding on a real life beach or just faking it for a seaside feel, there are many ways to perfect this theme.

Get The Look

A beach wedding has to have styling to match. If you’re really going to be getting married by the sea, plan your dress and hair accordingly! The gown should be lightweight and easy to walk in, and without a long train that will get ruined by sand and potential splashing. For your hair, long, loose waves can make you look like a walking mermaid, but a delicate updo may be more practical if you’re expecting a bit of a breeze.

Beach Treats

To get your guests in the holiday mood, bring the joy of the seaside to their tastebuds. Serve up gourmet fish and chips, ice cream, seaside rock and sticky taffy, and make sure lots of summery cocktails are on hand to get the party started. If a real beach is on hand, tell guests to bring their favourite bikinis and flip flops for some surf and sun once the ceremony is over.

Get Nautical

For your seating and decorations, think nautical. Navy and white stripes and sailor blues will give your venue that old-fashioned seaside style, and pops of red will bring brightness to the room. Instead of seating your guests on the usual chairs, why not bring striped deck chairs in so they can lounge in style while they watch you tie the knot?

Set up all your favourite old holiday games for guests to play- mini-golf, sand castles and an ice cream truck will get everyone feeling nostalgic. You can even put on a puppet show for the kids, and set up a peek-a-boo board for everyone to pose for photos in.
